How long have you been affiliated with Make-A-Wish and in what capacity?
We have been volunteers with Make-A-Wish going on 2 years.  We most often enjoy meeting with children and families on the front end as Wish Catchers; however, we have also assisted with wish reveal parties, as well as, meeting families at the Nashville airport and assisting them at departure.
What is your favorite wish story or experience with Make-A-Wish?
This is difficult to answer because each wish child and their story is special and important and unique.  One of our favorite experiences was with a very bright 9 year old whose wish was to go with his family (including 2 brothers) to Hawaii.  We were able to meet with the family initially and work with them all the way through the wish reveal which we held at a quaint little Italian restaurant.  (One of the things the child mentioned he wanted to do was to dress up in fancy clothes and go to a nice restaurant, so we were able to accomplish that goal with his reveal party.)  This wish child has such a positive attitude and was so sure about what his wish would be, all the way down to minute details.  We really enjoyed working with this child and family and it was a blessing to be a part of this child's wish.
In what way have you seen the impact a wish can have on a child?
I think as much as anything, Make-A-Wish enables the family to take their minds off their child's illness, even if for a short time.  It's difficult as a parent to see your child go through hardships, so there is stress and anxious times for parents.  In addition, it can be difficult on the healthy child(ren) in the family as they may be shoveled between hospital or doctor visits and may feel lost or forgotten.  Make-A-Wish gives the entire family the chance to leave the illness and their cares behind, and just be a normal family again.
If you could have one wish, what would it be?
It's likely been said before, but as wonderful as Make-A-Wish is for children with critical illnesses; it would be our wish that there were no childhood illnesses and therefore no need for children's wishes.
