The Chef
Chef Tony Galzin

Chef Tony Galzin and his wife Caroline, of Nicky’s Coal Fired, have played an important role in Nashville’s food scene since opening Fifty First Kitchen & Bar in 2013 and, in 2016, Nicky’ Coal Fired, a neighborhood restaurant focusing on seasonal Italian antipasti, pasta and pizzas fired in Tennessee’s only coal burning oven. in 2016. Galzin’s versatility between pastry and savory began at three of Chicago’s fine dining restaurants: Naha, Perennial and Michael Kornick’s mk.

We may be known as Music City, but great food is also a hallmark of Nashville’s international appeal. Each year, Make-A-Wish Middle Tennessee invites a renowned chef or chefs to create a special menu for Stars for Wishes guests. Previous Nashville chefs include Greg Biggers, Matt Bolus, Tyler Brown, Hal Holden-Bache and Tandy Wilson.

Lily Wish Kid Lily is as tough as they come. She was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in 2014 at the age of 10. She underwent months of chemo. Watching Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders: Making the Team provided an opportunity for distraction and family bonding. Though she was reluctant to accept a wish—believing wishes were only for children with terminal illnesses—Lily ultimately wished to meet the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders. In 2015, Lily and her family traveled to Dallas, met the team and attended the big Thanksgiving Day game. She says her wish gave her chance to switch focus from hospitals and treatment to being a regular kid. Since her wish, Lily has served as an ambassador for Make-A-Wish and shared her story with many supporters. She says each time she gets the chance to tell her wish story, she gains a little bit more power back from the disease that took so much from her.

Kayden Wish Kid Kayden is one of a kind in many ways. His smile lights up a room. He cares deeply for his family. And he is unbelievably tough. Kayden is the only person in Tennessee with CLOVES syndrome, a very rare genetic disorder. Kayden's condition requires numerous treatments, including surgeries and medications.  Because his condition is so rare, he must travel to children's hospitals in Cincinnati and Boston, as well as Nashville.

In 2017, Kayden wished to attend Game 1 of the NBA Finals. The Golden State Warriors, his favorite team, brought home a win! Kayden said his wish made him smile, gave him hope and made him feel important!
