This year, Make-A-Wish supporters like you sent our daughter Allison, and the rest of our family on the vacation of a lifetime. This trip to Florida was nothing like we had ever experienced, and it came at exactly the right time.
For two years, we battled Allison’s cancer. That meant that our family was separated often. One parent had to be with Allison and the other had to try to keep things together at home for the other three children. But for seven days, we were together, laughing and enjoying getting to know each other again.
This wish meant that we are not alone. For us, Allison’s wish was an opportunity to celebrate how hard she fought and how brave she was. Allison’s wish trip was not just about my kids eating ice cream and riding roller coasters (although Allison is now a certified roller coaster junkie). This was a time for my children to be carefree. To be in the moment and not think about doctor’s visits or medicine. This was an opportunity for worried siblings to be acknowledged for their bravery and sacrifices. This was a chance for two parents to enjoy all the smiles and memories.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart and from our entire family.
