Wish Presentation Today, Friday, August 24, at 5:30 p.m.

The Event

Eleven televisions will be installed in the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt’s sixth-floor myelosuppression unit as part of Chad’s wish to provide patients with state-of-the-art entertainment.  Chad passed away April 19, 2012, and the televisions will be presented in his memory today at 5:30 p.m. with Chad’s family on-hand.

The Background: Manchester, TN native Chad was diagnosed with leukemia in 2010 when he was 15 years old. As a patient at Children’s Hospital, Chad would often watch television in order to pass the time.  When Make-A-Wish told him that he would be granted a wish, Chad knew exactly what he wanted:  new, flat screen televisions for rooms in the myelosuppression unit so that other patients may enjoy them. Chad’s wish is sponsored by the Ayers Foundation and Turner Construction.
