Aly is in college studying Creative Writing. We thought it would be great to hear about her wish in her own words.
Hi, my name is Aly, and I am 18 years old! Since the age of 13 I’ve been diagnosed with multiple forms of juvenile arthritis, lupus, Addison's disease, and Raynaud's disease. Many of my days consist of visits to doctors and physical therapists, the infusion center and even the hospital. This is not only rough on me but my family as well, so being told I was having a wish granted was the most amazing news!
Ever since I was little, I have been a fan of country music and Taylor Swift and have had a fascination with the behind-the-scenes magic of music videos and the music industry. Make-A-Wish was able to turn all of these into an amazing wish that I will never forget.
My Dream Day consisted of getting my makeup done at Parlour 3 by Melissa Schleicher, a tour of Hemphill Brothers Coach Company (and Taylor Swift's first ever tour bus!), an incredible lunch with music video director Trey Fanjoy and a visit to the Bluebird Café and the Country Music Hall of Fame® and Museum.
My wish may have only lasted one day, but the joy it provided will last a lifetime. In the moments of my wish, I forgot about my illnesses and everything that comes with them. There are days when I struggle to find a reason to smile and thinking of My Dream Day pushes me through. Thanks to Make-A-Wish, my family and I have something to look back on when the days get rough. The friendships and experiences my wish gave me will last forever and I couldn’t be more grateful!
