Meet Our Volunteers

September 2017: Brewer Adams

Brewer Adams

Brewer with Wish Kid Dakoda and fellow volunteer, Isabella
Where do you work?
I'm an account manager at George P. Johnson Experience Marketing.

How long have you been affiliated with Make-A-Wish and in what capacity?
I have been a volunteer and Wish Granter with Make-A-Wish for a year.

What is your favorite wish story or experience with Make-A-Wish?
My favorite experience is always meeting the wish child and family for the first time. Hearing their stories and seeing their perseverance is such a powerful experience. My first wish was with D'Arion, a sixteen year old boy, whose wish was for a new bedroom where he could study and watch TV. Seeing his reaction to his new room was priceless.

In what way have you seen the impact a wish can have on a child?
The wish gives the recipient a break from being sick. Being able to experience their wish gives a sense of normalcy that does not exist in the numerous hospital stays and doctor visits. I've seen the wish impact the family as well. Many parents have explained how having a sick child adds stress to the family unit and being able to experience the wish together makes the family stronger.

If you could have one wish, what would it be?
My wish would be to play a round of golf at Augusta National Golf Club, home of the Masters.
