Richard Marx headlined Make-A-Wish® Middle Tennessee’s fifth annual Stars For Wishes event last Saturday at Gaylord Opryland Hotel. Hosted by radio personality Blair Garner, the evening was filled with heartfelt performances by Marx, Make-A-Wish Middle Tennessee board member Jonathan Cain (Journey) and Brett Young.
“We’re incredibly grateful for all of the donors, wish families and celebrities who turned out to make the fifth annual Stars for Wishes a great event,” said President and CEO, Beth Torres. “Thank you for a beautiful evening and for allowing us to continue to fulfill our mission of granting wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions.”
Over 600 guests began their evening with a Make-A-Wish silent auction including hundreds of items donated by individuals and local organizations. Guests then enjoyed a four-course meal created by renowned local chef, Matt Bolus of The 404 Kitchen.
In addition to the crowd-pleasing performances from Marx, Cain and Young, the evening included musical numbers by The Nashville Opera’s Eliza Bonet and Wes Morgan and Wish Kid Tarin, who performed “Naughty” from Matilda the Musical. The highlight of the evening came when wish kids and wish dads who were present granted the wish of eight-year-old Katelyn, who has leukemia, to go to Walt Disney World® Resort.
Other notable moments of the evening included a live auction, a donation announcement from HCA and an acknowledgement of the money Cain raised in 2016 while on tour with Journey.
The Late Party, hosted by the Young Leaders Board of Make-A-Wish Middle Tennessee was also held at the Gaylord Opryland Hotel following the event.
