Megan with Wish Kid Tarin
How long have you been involved with Make-A-Wish Middle Tennessee?
I started as a Programs Intern at Make-A-Wish Middle Tennessee in 2014. I loved my internship and knew I wanted to stay involved with this great organization and powerful mission. Following college graduation, I was hired as a Programs Coordinator and am now Programs Manager.
What is your job? What do you do at Make-A-Wish?
I grant wishes and try to bring a light to deserving kids and their families! I coordinate the logistics and try to make their experience as seamless as possible. If a wish kid wants a playset, I work with contractors and playset companies to make it happen. If they want a parrot, I search for the best parrot breeder out there! I’ve been involved in all wish types and have learned valuable lessons while working with some inspiring people!
What is your favorite wish story or experience?
My favorite wish experience would have to be Tarin who wished to meet and dance with Jasmine on Broadway. Her mom, Melissa, told me Tarin had always been an entertainer, always singing and dancing at home so this wish was so fitting!
With the help of Metro New York chapter and Disney Theatrical, Tarin got the opportunity to go backstage before the Aladdin Broadway show and meet Jasmine! Jasmine taught Tarin a dance routine from the show and hung out with her for the afternoon. Watching the video of Tarin light up with Jasmine and seeing how happy and comfortable she was with the princess brought me so much happiness.
Now Tarin is a regular at our office. We love listening to her tell us about the next play she is starring in and showing us all of her new moves! I have no doubt that it will be Tarin on the Broadway stage next!
If you could have one wish, what would it be?
My one wish would hands down be recreating an episode of The Office and being both a cast member and a producer. Also, Jim Halpert would have a crush on me. Sorry, Pam.
